Watch the video

Opening shots of rail tracks and a train soon pan out skywards to an overhead bridge on which Jeff, Vic, Paul and Lem stand with outstretched arms, creating an impressive sight.
General tomfoolery then takes over as the boys frolic in and on top of the train, and also link arms in a silly high-kick routine on the bridge. The train also passes a group of girl fans who are holding a placard with the names of the members.
A special flyer was distributed to promote the video.

FEEDBACK

I like this video because the music is cool and there is no bloody H&S

I like the bit when they dance on the locomotive and that engine reminds me of another engine I know; her name is ISABEL, she runs at the cambrian railway oswerstry.

Should have been a bigger hit than it was. Thanks!

Many train songs are a bunch of annoying American country-style music, while this video is a 1970s British rock song about trains. Therefore, it has a good beat and style to it without being lame or annoying. I first heard this song on youtube. I was reading the Isle of Wight Steam Railway site in September of 2008, and I read about the tank engine named "Invincible". There was a link posted on the page to the original Iron Horse music video featuring this locomotive. Then, that video inspired me to make my own. I had (and still have) the computer game called "Rail Simulator" by EA and Kuju. In July of 2008, I bought the Isle of Wight add-on for it which included Invincible the tank engine in the 1972 music video of Iron Horse. So in December of 2008, I got a Christie CD for Christmas with Iron Horse on it. I then made my own music video of Iron Horse. I wanted to make it very identical to the original music video from 1972 with the same locomotive and the same route. I like trains because they're big, loud, thrilling, historical, and extreme. I declare Iron Horse by Christie to be the "Official Steam Train Anthem". I believe many train lovers will love this song and want to make their own videos with it because it has a very good rhythm, memorable lyrics, and describes steam trains very well in music form. I say that Iron Horse by Christie is the best railroad song I have ever heard.

Iron Horse is now the official train song for train enthusiasts in the US! Check out several youtube videos made by them, all featuring the song as the backing track. - webmaster

This is wonderful, it must have been around 1972.

I don't ever recall hearing this song before, but like both the song and video. It's great that some people had the foresight to preserve a few of those steam locomotives on both sides of the Atlantic.

Awesome song! Look at Invincible (the tank engine or "Iron Horse") roll down the line!:)

We used to play this at my mate's house in 1973, still sounds as good today.

Man, this is such an awesome train song. The train songs in America are mainly a bunch of Southern "Red Neck" country crap. British rock songs about trains (like this one) are SO much better than the American country songs about trains.

I'd never heard this one until I found it on here. Here in the US we just got Yellow River. I love this song. It's great and the video is neat with the steam engine and all. The guy with the square pockets on his pants, I remember people dressing like that. The good old days .. :)
